Folks of all ages deserve a minute during this very busy time of year to actually celebrate the season. Gift yourself and your family in a huge way by putting on the brakes from holiday scurrying, preparation and to-do lists for 90 minutes of fantastical festivity!

See the holiday surprise event of the season – Doris Baizley’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol remounted by Howard Community College’s Arts Collective (AC) December 6 – 16: two weekends, 10 performances!

Worth your time during this hectic time of year?

Oh, yes! This 90-minute show, directed and choreographed by Jenny Male, unfolds into a fast-paced, tumbling Ferris wheel of music, movement and light. You can bank on Doris Baizley’s version to beautifully honor but radically shake up Dickens’ timeless, sentimental holiday staple (including Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, Future, the Cratchits, Marley and more) BUT WITH A SURPRISING TWIST.

THE SURPRISE: A theatrical spin retells the story through the eyes of an acting troupe full of juggling clowns, charming lovers, masked revelers and an array of other unforgettable characters. This production is stacked with enchanting and moving storytelling, dancing, singing, live hand-bells as well as original music, costumes, lights and more… bringing the story truly home… into your heart and the hearts of your entire family in a fresh, new way.

This is NOT AC’s first time on the A Christmas Carol Ferris wheel – the story re-mounted:

“Director and Choreographer Jenny Male first brought Baizley’s very unique script to AC when we met in 2003 (after she directed the play in 1997 in Willow Springs, Missouri) Jenny was sure AC would dig it, and we did; AC produced A Christmas Carol for the first time in 2004 under Male’s direction which played to joyful, sold-out audiences! Moving forward eight years, AC wanted to work a holiday block buster into its 18th season… and after reviewing many scripts, remounting this version of A Christmas Carol with Male at the helm made perfect, magical sense. AC is beyond excited to share with the universe (once again) our fresh and nostalgic take on this very special journey featuring the work of stellar designers (including a few from the previous production) and a beautiful brand new cast!”

“It’s refreshing to work with an ensemble of artists giving their all, coming together to make a dynamic and magical performance you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else.” –Yury Lomakin (“Stage Manager,” “Ebenezer Scrooge”).

“Having been in the 2004 AC production, I can only imagine the wonderful experience the cast is going through now; in addition to the unique, enchanting journey they will take the audience on when the show opens on December 6th!”Grace Anastasiadis (2004 A Christmas Carol Cast Member  and AC’s Associate Artistic and Managing Director).

“This show really does have everything. So much effort has been put into the smallest of details. I can’t wait for the audience to see it; they’re going to get a lot more than they pay for.” Bryan Czerwinski (“Young Leading Man,” “Fred”)
