Peter Peters is a Washington creature. By day, he lives on a steady diet of sound bites and policy briefs. At night, he dreams of Senate confirmations and missions accomplished.
In The Pundit, last year’s Capital Fringe hit, Peters was a media darling who could spit out commentary on everything under the sun, including topics he knew nothing about. Such hubris, which is an occupational hazard inside the Beltway, propelled him far outside his depth and into an escalating confrontation with an international terrorist.
This year Peter Peters returns in The Politician, a full-length play that combines last year’s production with its nail-biting sequel. Audiences who missed The Pundit will be able to see a restaged version of last-year’s play in the first act. And those who caught Peter Peters last year can, in the second act, finally find out what happened after the cliffhanger ending. Once a pundit and now a politician, has Peter Peters learned his lesson?

The Politician is written by John Feffer and directed by Doug Krehbel (who also directed The Pundit and Feffer’s acclaimed The Bird). It stars Sean Coe as Peter Peters with Ethan Kitts, Michael Crowley, Morganne Davies*, Lisa Hodsoll, Conor Scanlan, and Sarah Strasser.

John Feffer is currently an Open Society Foundation fellow looking at Eastern Europe 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He is also a North Korea expert at the Institute for Policy Studies, a Washington, DC thinktank. His plays Krapp’s Last PowerPoint, Edible Rex, and The Bird have all appeared in the Capital Fringe Festival. His latest book, Crusade 2.0, was recently released by City Lights Books and highlighted on CSPAN BookTV in May 2012. His article “My Backlogged Pages,” was published in The New York Times; an excerpt from Edible Rex and his article on Jeju Island were both published by The Washington Post.
