Pride. Wrath. Lust. Greed. What do these things have in common, other than being on Rock Tender’s ‘things about me that the ladies love’ list? They are sins, and more specifically some of the Seven Deadly variety. Now while we do not condone embracing these sins as lifestyle, as our host Rock Tender has, Burlesque & Belly Laughs has decided to take our fears and look them right in the face and dance for them or make them laugh.
Burlesque & Belly Laughs is proud to bring its World Premiere show, What’s in the BOX?! to the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival. Our aim is to show the bright side of these sins, and take some of the fear out of the equation. Besides, if we are already going to hell, why not have some fun!
As Rock Tender says, “I’ll be driving the bus [to Hell]!”
Each night of What’s in the BOX?!, Burlesque & Belly Laughs will present a different sin, chosen by the audience, and then the cast of improvisers and burlesque performers will make a mad dash to try and come up with scenes and dances that reflect the sin of the night. Gauntlet thrown, challenge accepted. “As the company has grown since it’s conception in 2011, we have thought more and more about evolving the show, and with improv being as spontaneous as it is, we wanted to put that challenge for the whole cast to the test, in front of an audience,” said Tender between sips of whiskey.
