When cooking, the taste of dishes is elevated by the spices used to flavor the food. It is the savory, sweet and spicy combination that dances on the palette of the eager diner. Under the Directorial advisement of Delia Taylor, Tiger’s Blood Theater presents this short but powerful piece in Rosemary with Ginger by offering a well-balanced mix of laughter with heartache and joy with pain through the lives of sisters at a crossroads.
A dynamic combination of sensitivity and roughness, the play takes a snapshot into the lives of two sisters that wrestle with generational hardships, lackluster relationships and alcoholism. In the meeting of a quaint diner filled with childhood memories, Rosemary (Colleen McKenna) and Ginger (Jaime Fearer) deliver a dynamic portrayal of two sisters facing a plethora of familial issues that could possibly demolish the remaining foundation of their fragile lives. Both McKenna and Fearer provide authentic stories of women that push the limits of sacrifice for family unity, the pangs of shortcomings in life and the demons that haunt families in reference to addiction and abuse. A moving piece that is relatable to persons of all backgrounds, Rosemary with Ginger appeases to the theatrical senses and is a definite contender for Capital Fringe Festival.
