Bitches! It’s getting’ HAUTE in here! That’s right— you heard me! Fringe’s most outrageous dragalicious extravaganza is blowing up the world inside Redrum at Fort Fringe. Presented by Landless Theatre Company, and Directed by Ian Allen, this irreverent look at the fashion industry through the eyes of three drag-super models is sure to make your head spin! With a book by The Other Baldwins, that makes mostly no sense— these three super divas bring a raunchy and uproarious good time to the audience with their shenanigans.
Featuring Lucrezia Blozia, Helen Highwater, and Patty O’Furrnatura, this ridiculous ride through fashionista focused New York City will take you to the towering inferno that is Vogue magazine, and to the creepy underground sewers of the mole peoples. There’s wigs and attitudes and heaven help us all, va-jay-jays!! With each of the three lovely ladies playing multiple characters, without ever changing costumes, it becomes an intense character study in how quickly one can distinguish their voice and body presence from the other.
Blozia, as the stereotypical dumb blonde is a riot, particularly when she doubles up as the haughty Anna Ventura of Vogue; with a deep British accent and catwalkin’ legs to die for. Providing a fierce presence to contend with, you’ll get your weight’s worth of laughs from this catty queen.
Miss Helen Highwater is just taking the cake when it comes to accents, first as Yasmine, the slightly Sophia Vagara-sounding model, and then as little Tim-Tam from Ecuador. On top of that she narrates the story from the beginning, in a style a la the grandma from Edward Scissorhands. With her ferocious RuPaul approach to drag, you can’t miss this queen coming.
As for Patty O’Furrnatura, while she may not be the most conventional queen, her character acting is second to none! The funniest moment of the show comes from a little Patty on Patty combat as two of her characters face off and go into a full on hair-pulling, bitch-slapping brawl! It’s hilarious watching her fight herself! Keep an ear out on those distinctive accents, especially for Barbara, devil queen of the mole people.
The story may not always follow conventions and it is indeed bizarre, it’s still a riotous good time to be had and let’s face it, who doesn’t love seeing crazy drag gals strutting their stuff on the catwalk? Meow!
